March Update

20 March 2008

Dear Friends,
January and February were very busy months for production and marketing as we were preparing for several new marketing initiatives. Read on to find out more!

New Shop in Bhopal

Pardada Pardadi opened a new store in Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh, on 19th Feb 2008. The store was inaugurated by Shri Suresh N. Vijayvargia (Chairman People’s Group).

The first days' response was very encouraging. We hope and wish for success of this new store. The photographs included here are from that new location.

Wills India Fashion Week

As a CSR initiative of the Fashion Design Council of India to eradicate child labour, Pardada Pardadi has been invited to participate in Wills India Fashion Week. This is an annual event where all the lead designers are invited to display their products and book orders for the same.

Pardada Pardadi was featured in an article in Thaindian News. The article titled "At fashion fair, small town girls marks a different presence," by Thakur Shweta, gives a description of Pardada Pardadi's products and features an interview with Renuka. To read the full article, please click here.

Volunteers program

Ms. Judith Hunger (Encore volunteer) has been teaching English to VI grade as well as to the teachers for the past five months.
She has become very much a part of Pardada Pardadi School. PPES has benefited a great deal from Judy’s presence. She has not only served PPES as an English teacher, but has also helped us put many systems in place.

Ms. Annabel Ipsen (Encore volunteer) is working with Pardada Pardadi to develop a fund-raising strategy. She is also doing socio-economic research on the students of PPES. The research will help us in determining the socio-economic details of the families of students PPES works with.

At the School

Soccer, volleyball, and badminton have been introduced as new sports. School and children have livened up because of sports activities.

Mr. K.P. Singh, Chairperson of DLF Groups, (the world’s wealthiest construction developer) has agreed to visit the school on 14th March. Mr. K. P. Singh originally belongs to Bulandhshahr. PPES is keen on developing some kind of partnership with his organization.

Thank you for your encouraging response to the monthly updates. In order to improve them we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

With kind regards,
Sam
